    KS ACI Golf Tournament

    Dub's Dread Golf Course
    September 10, 2019

The weather finally cooperated and allowed us to have a wonderful day out on the golf course!  We had 92 people registered on 23 teams this year.

A very big Thank You to all who came out to support the Kansas ACI Chapter and the Student Scholarship fund!  We had some wonderful volunteers help us with the event, including Denise Valdepena (Decorative Concrete Supply) and Christy Martin (Concrete Promotional Group) at the check in desk.  Out on the course were current Chapter President Bill Beggs (Martin Marietta Materials), Chapter Secretary Kristen Freeman (Ash Grove Cement), and Board Members Mark Newland (Monarch Cement), and Oliver Dreher (Euclid Chemical Co.) dealing out the poker hand.

We hope everyone had a great time golfing, enjoying the wonderful food from Celebrity’s, and got lucky in our raffle drawing. This year we gave away over $3500 worth of tools, electronics, gift cards, and golf equipment.  Through the generosity of our sponsors and participants, the Chapter has provided nearly $50,000 in support of our local students in the form of scholarships, local competitions, and attendance at local and national industry events since our first golf tournament in 2008!

Even if you did not make it to the tournament this year, please feel free to take our SURVEY to help us improve for next year!

    Congratulations to our winners!

    Student Activities

    Congratulations to our Scholarhip Winners!

Last year, we were able to increase our annual student scholarships from $1000 to $2000 for one student from each school: Kansas State University, the University of Kansas, and Pittsburg State University.  This year our scholarship winners include Kyle Bauer, an Architectural Engineering undergraduate attending KSU from Wichita, Kansas.  Kyle will be graduating in May of 2020, and hopes to be a Structural Engineer, designing buildings with concrete.  The recipient from KU, Ali Abdul Baki, is a Civil Engineering graduate student from Mosul, Iraq.  Ali will graduate with a PhD this December, and would like to teach.  His area of study was the durability of concrete when exposed to de-icing salts and wetting and drying cycles.  The winner from PSU, Kristen Van Hoosen, is a Construction Management undergraduate from Omaha, Nebraska.  Kristen will be graduating in May of 2020 and hopes to be involved in residential and commercial concrete construction.  Both Ali and Kristen are involved with their student ACI chapters at their schools.  Congratulations!
